ATX Plays LLC is Austin's first charity driven sports and social club for adults that want to raise awareness for local nonprofits. ATX Plays provides co-ed sports leagues, social events, and tournaments. Nonprofits speak at each event to help raise awareness for their cause and inform players about how they can help. In addition, a portion of all proceeds go towards local causes.

How ATX Plays Started
​
Owner, Shane R. Saum started ATX Plays in early 2016 to help local nonprofits reach more young professionals in Austin. Shane moved to Austin in 2014 from Cleveland, Ohio to start a career in public service while writing his dissertation for a PhD at Ohio University. He quickly became very involved in the community while working in the Texas capitol for a State Representative and then the Office of the Governor. Shane volunteers with multiple nonprofits around Austin including as a CASA volunteer, a board member at the YMCA Townlake, a Government Affairs Committee member for the Arc of Texas and an appointed Commissioner on the City of Austin Resources Management Commission. He also does pro bono legislative consulting for nonprofits and chaired the Austin Young Chamber Nonprofit Fair.
As one can see, his passion for nonprofits and public service is deep. ATX Plays was a no brainer for Shane. Young professionals want to give back to their community and they already play in multiple recreation leagues across the city every night. ATX Plays simply brings these two desires together and only asks that players help raise awareness. While each league and event makes a donation to charity, it is the spreading of awareness that can truly make a difference. Imagine the impact having every player tell a friend or colleague about the great work an organization is doing in Austin, and then they tell another and another. Knowing that you are not only having fun playing a sport with your friends, but also helping a cause that is impacting the lives of those in need makes playing that much better. Leagues and Tournaments
ATX Plays is a new spin on an Austin sports and social club. The purpose of all leagues is to raise awareness for local nonprofits. Part of all league fees will go towards local charities. As the league grows so will our reach and donations. So spread the word, invite your friends, co-workers, and relatives to come out and play it forward for Austin.
Social Events
ATX Plays will schedule happy hour events throughout the year for ATX Plays participants to socialize and help raise awareness and money for local charities. As available, league champions will get to host a happy hour where the majority of proceeds go to the charity of their choice.
Civic Engagement
Sports can be the great connector in our lives, bringing fellow Austinites together from all walks of life. ATX Plays invites local charities, nonprofits, and community organizations to attend our leagues, events, and tournaments to raise awareness and engage our players.
